Music+Friends=Groovy
When I was trying to desperately open my Unet mail archive yesterday I joyously discovered all my music in my "public" folder. Yay! Mini-triumphs are good. It is amazing how much listening to this music brings back fond memories. All of my friends have contributed a lovely musical memory, be it dancing and especially bellydancing (in my room, and often in public), singing in the streets, burning CDs or downloading random music. I can't even name specific names because all of you guys, whether in the LJ community or not, have made a musical memory for me. Thank you!

Sadly I missed the only performance of Beethoven's Opus 132 at MIT! I had to work late. But oh well. I have recordings that I listen to 5 billion times to keep me happy for a while.

And it snowed. Life has fun little surprises.

Mini-birthday story
So as my last entry promised, a brief and dorky birthday story in honor of Em's 23rd!

Em and I have known each other since we were 5 and have been friends since we were 8. On my 13th birthday Em and a couple of my friends got together at my house and thought it would be fun to spead the news of my nearing womanhood. We dialed random numbers and tried to talk to anyone who answered. While some people hung up, I recall talking to many a nice soul and telling them that we were in fact not crank-calling but trying to say hello to anyone and treat any person we called as a potential friend. I know if I hadn't met Em though I would have been to shy to do it. She always brings out the confident Dana, and that birthday was groovy thanks to her.

Happy Birthday Emzie!
In case your livejournal does work and you see this entry. I send big squeezes and lots of love! And 23 adds up to the lucky number 5 (well at least my lucky number)

A birthday story is pending...

Blargh
Hyper...I am in Shapiro trying to focus....

Parizad and I literally spent every minute of yesterday together hanging out and getting nerdy. Then I ordered food with my groovelicious friends and it came late. But I ate. Parizad and I ended up looking for apartments and we will visit one on Thursday after my defense. Sigh..excitement. We agreed to try to maximize our girlish charms. I am sure the snowflake sweater will still reign however, and we will just look like desperate unstylish students instead.
I konked out at 11:30 and actually slept. What else? I met with Mick this morning and talked about Beethoven and MidEast violence. After this decidedly interesting convo I came here only to be a bum. :)
I was waiting for a day where something cataclysmically interesting would happen so I could write an epic about it, but my life has been stable for the last few days. So, this is what you get....

Life's purpose
I must experience every emotion by the end of this semester so I can use the little alien icons. I love the little alien mood icons. They are beyond cute and I must put all of them up! Though to my dismay, some overlap with the moods. But now, a new icon!

Random aside: I am playing interpretive grammar due to intense fatigue and find myself editing my entries again because I am no longer coherent. Hmmm..that icon makes me look pretty tripped out...

Buenos Dias
It is raining out but I am still feeling groovy. I just finished with my presentation and then went on a motorcycle and rode off with a tattooed biker into the sunset..oops. That would be if my life was not as boring as it is now. :) Back to real life...I did my presentation, and now I shall go back to my room, nosh and meet with some profs. Then who knows? Maybe there some sketchy things to do in my future...

Mad birthday props to Sunjay! :)

El Sun
Thanks to the holiday and the Boston Marathon, I do not have my internship today. Today is breathtakingly gorgeous. I have to finish my presentation but at least the warmth of the sun is upon my skin and makes my task so much more pleasant. :) Today is an open day then, and I will go to work on Wednesday. Fortunately, Mick won't meet with me probably until the end of the week, so thesis will not predominate. I think I will go get some sun during a break. I feel so much more capable of getting things done than before, and my spirits have been up. SUN!

Sleep and Deep thoughts
I long to nap, but Kelly is coming over and I have to do an analysis with her for thesis. Then I shall work on a presentation and sleep.
I was rereading my journal today and in some ways, while I always worried that documenting my emotions was too committal, too intense for others to read, it has also been a good way to remember things I would have forgotten and should not. It makes my memories richer. I never realized how little one tends to remember. Sometimes I write about what I think are little details that no one should care about. But it is sort of empowering to defy memory and be able to recall. Hmm..food for thought.

Laundry and stuff
I am doing my laundry and feeling fine. Must clean my room again, for it presently reflects the chaos of this week. I also find that if I clean my room I have this sense that the outside order reflects my insides. :)

It is gorgeous out! Sun for the first time in weeks. If I didn't have to get articles off the internet I would be out sunning. Perhaps it will be a nice break. But as seductive as the sunshine is, it is still a bit nippy.

So, I have the day free except when I meet Lianna from my chorus and we make costume bunny ears. Perhaps some explanation is due, no? :) My chorus is performing Britten's Noye's Fludde on Sunday, and Lianna and I are a pair of hares. So we must make fun ears and tails. Then in two weeks, we are performing the super dignified 9th symphony. Go figure. After making bunny ears, I think I shall work, or sleep, or something like that...

Off to dinner soon
Hungry am I. Hmmm food. Well, I am online and feel compelled to update nonetheless. Yesterday was incredibly long but ended well. I feel less in limbo than before, and as I was stating to Ben, watching Empire Records has convinced me that a greater degree of depression is always possible, thanks to the character of the bald chick. But today was great. I woke up, went for a happy walk, listened to techno, and then read for my adolescence class. This day was not spectacularly exciting, but I felt more content, though at the back of my mind there is always worry. If anyone has seen American Splendor, I have a "self diagnosed" anxiety disorder. :) Other than the usual sources for my fretting, (thesis, future plans) it was a peaceful, thinky Dana day...

Buenos Dias!
A new day awaits. My friend Addie has lent me and Ange this British TV series called Coupling..excited about watching that over break as my reward.
Today I have to email Lynn and Jasmina, the grad students and ask them how to scale something and then I can analyze the data again. Sigh. I met with Mick on Monday and he wants me to do everything again so I can explore another facet of the research. Then, as Maria puts it, I shall have an "indoor picnic", which is another euphemism for thesis, of course! :)
Overall I expect to indoor picnic. Than I may go see a movie screening of this movie "Fire" which was banned in India. Ah controversy...

Hello..how I've missed you livejournal!
Hello hello!

I am gleeful that I can write again. Ten page paper done. Yay! Today I was in Boston for a workshop for preventing teen pregnancy. This is for my women in community service thingy. So, I learned more about STI's than I would ever want to know in a lifetime. Sigh..:)

But at the moment I am contented. Yesterday Phil visited because Brandeis was hosting a conservative speaker, David Horowitz. Also my friends Ange and Trav had their photos from their time abroad up in an exhibit. In the midst of work, the chilling time was a happy respite.

So, what else? Ayal Golan this Israeli singer is blaring in the background. Israeli rap is funny. It just is. I guess that is it for tonight.

Ooh..an afterthought..I realized that having lofty ambitions of writing lengthy entries may not be the best idea. After all, I freak out if I am not detailed and hence end up procrastinating and writing nothing. A new era of updates has begun! Triumph! :)
